Abstract

This study investigates the potential of Instagram as a social networking platform to develop writing skills in adult learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Instagram, with its visual and interactive features, provides an informal yet motivating environment for learners to engage in writing practices. The research employed a mixed-methods approach with pre- and post-tests, surveys, and classroom observations involving adult EFL learners. The results demonstrate that Instagram encourages creativity, motivates learners to produce authentic written content, and fosters peer-to-peer interaction. Despite challenges such as informal writing tendencies and distraction risks, Instagram was found to be an effective supplementary tool in teaching writing to adults.
