Neyromediatorlar markaziy va periferik asab tizimida impulslarni uzatishda muhim vositachi bo`lib,ularning bosintezi maxsus fermentativ jarayonlar orqali amalga oshiriladi.Neyromediatorlarning yetishmovchiligi yoki disbalansi turli nevrologik va psixiatrik kasalliklarning potogenezida asosiy omillardan biri hisoblanadi.ularning biosintezi va metobolizmini chuqur o`rganish neyrodegenerativ va neyropsixiatrik kasalliklar uchun innavatsion terapevtik yondashuvlarni ishlab chiqishga zamin yaratadi.
