Apoptoz -bu hujayralarning dasturlashtirilgan oʻlimi boʻlib, organizmning rivojlanishi va gameastazini saqlash uchun muhimdir. Mitoxondriya apoptozning ichki yoʻlida markaziy rol oʻynaydi, chunki uning membranasidan sitoxrom c ajralib chiqishi kaspazalar kaskadini faollashtiradi. Bu jarayon hujayraning tartibli nobud bolishini ta’minlaydi va turli kasalliklarning oldini olishda muhim ahamiyatga ega.
