Genetik modifikatsiya – bu gen texnologiyasining maxsus turi bo‘lib, hayvonlar, o‘simliklar yoki mikroorganizmlar kabi tirik organizmlarning genetik tuzilishini o‘zgartiradi. Muhandislar ta'mi, ozuqaviy tarkibi va chidamliligini yaxshilash uchun genetik jihatdan o'zgartirilgan organizmlar (GMO) yordamida o'simliklarni loyihalashadi. Biroq, odamlar o'zlarining xavfsizligi haqida tashvishlanadilar va GMOlardan foydalanishning ijobiy va salbiy tomonlari haqida ko'p bahs-munozaralar mavjud.
