Hozirgi kunda genetik modifikatsiya qilingan organizmlar (GMO) oziq-ovqat xavfsizligi, ekologiya va inson salomatligiga ta’siri bo‘yicha dunyo miqyosida muhokama qilinayotgan dolzarb masalalardan biri hisoblanadi. GMO mahsulotlari hosildorlikni oshirish, zararkunandalarga va kasalliklarga chidamlilikni kuchaytirish maqsadida ishlab chiqariladi. Biroq, ularning inson organizmiga uzoq muddatli ta’siri bo‘yicha ilmiy bahslar davom etmoqda. Ushbu ish GMO mahsulotlarining organizmga ta’siri va ularning afzalliklari hamda mumkin bo‘lgan xavflarini tahlil qilishga qaratilgan.
